Joel Robertson

Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist

joel robertson

Joel Robertson’s therapeutic practice is integrative, drawing from humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioural approaches. He aims to offer a welcoming, non-judgemental, supportive and safe space to help clients talk through concerns in as much depth as they feel comfortable with. He is led by each client’s own pace, giving time and focus to what’s most important to them and looking out for opportunities to make positive changes.

Joel is trained and skilled in a number of different therapeutic approaches, with areas of focus including addiction (sex/pornography addiction, and substance addiction), anxiety, low mood, men’s issues, workplace stress, and faith/spirituality. His goal is to work flexibly and collaboratively, and to stay alongside clients in whatever they want to address – people often come to therapy for more than one reason and discover unexpected ways to make use of it once they’ve started.

Sessions can be online or in-person, depending on what works best for each client.

Joel offers competitive rates, with fees set by a sliding scale related to income. To find out more, please get in touch by email, phone or submit the form on Joel’s website.

TERMS

Sessions can be online or in-person, depending on what works best for each client.

Joel offers a free 15-minute phone conversation so you can meet one another, and to help prospective clients decide whether they want to book in some sessions.

The first full session is an assessment, which is a chance to get to know one another and for clients to decide if it’s a good match to work together. Joel uses an open-ended contract for as many or as few sessions as clients would like, reviewing the work every six or eight sessions to help make sure it’s as helpful as it can be.
