Helen Holmes is an award winning, and highly esteemed clinician with 35 years’ experience of working in education and mental health settings including the Maudsley Hospital, Bethlem Royal Hospital, Royal Free Hospital and various charitable organisations.

She works with individuals, couples and families with day-to-day difficulties and people in crisis, community based, outpatient and acute inpatient situations, from a diversity of backgrounds and cultures. Helen is involved with medico-legal and expert witness work.

Helen and her team work with various mental health difficulties, including anxiety/depression, neuro-developmental difficulties, trauma, addictions, eating disorders, self-harm, psychoses and schizophrenias.

She offers a holistic approach to psychological therapy employing a range of modalities including CBT, CBTE, Mentalisation, EMDR, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. She offers in person, online and telephone psychotherapy. Private insurance is accepted.

Helen aims to provide a reliable and efficient enquiry response, usually within two hours.

Qualifications & Training

Helen was educated at Oxford University, University College London, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, Kings College London and Heythrop College, London. She has trained and been supervised under leading international experts.

Helen is the sole author of two published books, including an innovative psychology textbook on pre- and perinatal mental health (2020), and on psychosis (June, 2025), alongside a poetry anthology (2008). Additionally, Helen contributes regularly to publications of articles and book chapters on a range of mental health and social issues. She presents and trains internationally.
