Dr Malcolm Carruthers
The main focus of the Centre for Men's Health is the treatment of Testosterone Deficiency Syndrome (TDS), also known as andropause or male menopause. It is a condition characterised by loss of energy, weight gain, depression, memory loss, erectile problems, irritability, night sweats and decreased sex drive. It is rarely seen in isolation and is linked with heart failure, diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis. Research shows that two million men in the UK over the age of 50 suffer from TDS, yet only 1% have been diagnosed and are being treated.
First established by Dr Malcolm Carruthers in Harley Street over 20 years ago, the Centre for Men's Health has given rise to a network of private clinics all over the country, which provide specialist advice, treatment and screening for men living with TDS.
